First 3 weeks great fourth week only 1 lb lost.

So I started this low calorie diet as I was getting way to big (340). The first 3 weeks I lost a total of 20 lbs. However, in the fourth week it was exactly one lb that I lost. I am 45, now way 319 lbs, am 6 foot tall and have always been a big fella.

I have to ask, is this normal? Is this my body readjusting to my new eating habits? Will the weight loss kick up again? I am not expecting 20 lbs every 3 weeks, but with my size, I would like to see at least ten.

I did not change one thing on my diet. Stayed below my calorie intake each day, and continued to walk for an hour each night.

i think when you lower your calories the 1st few weeks alot of ppl get big losses (i did) then it slows to a steady healthy smaller loss

That's normal, weight loss isn't perfectly linear. It's punctuated for whatever reason.

If that continues to be the case, then have someone else take a look at your diet and exercise to offer some tips.

Even on shows like the biggest loser where they have nutritionists helping with their food and personal trainers working them in the gym, there are weeks the contestants only lose a lb.

Generally the next week will be better.

Yeah. It's normal. Stick with what you are doing for 4 to 6 weeks and then make adjustments as necessary. You may want to read up on "dieter's edema" too.

Including the fourth week you're averaging over 5 pounds a week weight loss. That's incredible!

Know that those first pounds will probably be the easiest to lose. The weight loss should continue, but likely slow its pace, until eventually you're losing 1-2 pounds per week. If you think it's painfully slow, just remember two things -- one, the slower you lose it, the easier it will be to keep it off. And two, you're still losing much faster than you put it on in the first place. Good luck!

I just saw my doctor this morning. She's an internist who specializes in weight loss and she said not to be discouraged if I don't lose any weight one week. I have lost 21 lbs in 5 weeks but I noticed that this past week I haven't lost any weight. In fact, I've gained 3 lbs but my doctor said my weight will fluctuate and to not freak out. I know I'm doing all the right things so there is no way I have gained 3 lbs of fat. Don't be discouraged.

Look here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 make sure you have done your calculations. If you are relying on MFP to give you the right number of calories you are probably UNDER eating for your size. Most larger people continue to drop 2-4 lbs/week for quite a while - take a look. Hope it helps ;)
