Hello! I started running on a fairly regular basis a few weeks ago and then this week I started doing it everyday (about 3 miles/day). I have also been working in the express weight circuit at my gym the last few days in a row, though I've been using it for a few weeks as well. Last night I started feeling some pain in my left hip. I can't decide if it is just a sore muscle or some tension from not stretching enough or what. Any thoughts? Any stretches that might help?

If it helps, the pain is sharpest when I squat.

Just a guess, but since you have so much weight to lose, maybe you need to modify your weight/resistance training. That's a lot of weight to be lifting in a squat - you would normally work UP to lifting that much over a long period of time.

Whenever there is pain, you should curtail whatever movement is causing pain...see a doctor if it doesn't ease up in a week.

Not a weight-lifting squat, just squatting to tie a shoe or something. I've been doing the same weight machines since I started and haven't added anything new. If anything, I'm doing a little bit less of them over a week than I used to.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this and see if the pain keeps getting worse or starts to improve.

One of my MFP friends mentioned on my wall that it my by the IT band, so I did a little looking and the symptoms and causes all seem to match. The increased running, together with my pronation and slightly bowed legs could be what did it. Now, to work on relaxing it...
