Tennis Elbow!

Looking for a little motivation and support here... I have been diagnosed with Tennis Elbow i have had it for over a month now... i was 1/2 way though my 3rd round of p90x when it happened and have had to put all my lifting on hold... I have started focusing more on cardio still keeping the p90x ab ripper and plyo workouts also a little bit of legs & back, though i usually skip the back workouts and focus on the legs since my left arm is messed up.
I started physiotherapy today, i should have started long time ago but i kept hoping that with a little rest it wasnt as bad as it really was. I will be off lifting until my arm is better, in the last month it has been slowly getting better, some days are better then others depending on what i do that day but i really need to stay away from lifting which has been my go to exercise for the last 10 months.
Anyone out there going through the same thing? or had tennis elbow before? how long were you out for? what did you do differently to keep on track and not fall off the wagon? Any suggestions to other workout videos i can do in the meantime that does not require you to lift or have repetitive arm movements? This is my first injury ever and its really getting me down
Running on the treadmill is becoming boring real fast i really need something else to motivate me to keep going... im really good at being strict with myself and force myself to workout everyday but i also love enjoying what im doing too... and the treadmill doesnt cut it. I do other things as well like Hiking but even when i get a good hike in it never feels like enough compared to p90x.
I have worked so hard to get were i am and im just so worried that im going to lose everything i have gained in the last 10 months.
Help!!!

i got tennis elbow in my right arm.. amazingly painful. I tried to self medicate with advil, but finally went to the doctor, and then referred to an ortho doc.. was put in a brace for 5 weeks (i still worked out, just tried be careful of grip stuff.. and made sure to use neutral grip - versus with wrist cocked)
i also did physical therapy for a few weeks, using the "ART - active release technique".. just as it started to get better.. my left elbow was starting the same problem.. very frustrating.0 -
Aw. I just posted practically this same topic, except it's my ankle instead - but I definitely know where you're coming from. I'll do your bicep curls and you can do my squats and it'll be perfect! (What do you mean it doesn't work that way?)
The only thing I can say is follow whatever your doctor says. Eye on the prize and all that - you'll be able to do more and push yourself harder if you let it get all the way healed up rather than starting when it's only mostly ok and making it worse. Make sure to ask about things you can do to avoid reaggravating it, like if you should change how you're lifting or whatever.
At least there's a lot you can do with legs - they're really big muscles so you won't lose much overall conditioning if you keep working them. And it's easier to regain muscle strength than it is to get it in the first place, so even if you lost 10 months of progress (which you won't), it wouldn't take 10 months to get back to that same place.
My mom had tennis elbow from playing tennis. She only did the shots a couple of times, and hated them so much she worked really hard on her PT and got over it, hasn't had any problems since. And she was in her late 50's at the time, and not in super-fantastic shape, so it's definitely doable.0
