Can you open your diary? What exactly is a HUGE amount?0

I don't know what you consider a "huge amount" since your diary isn't public. Is a huge amount of broccoli a cup? 4 cups? A pound?
I would be less worried about how much veg you eat and more worried about this:im only ever satisfied when i am absolutely stuffed
A goal many of us have (or have had) to work on is recognizing that being just full enough is plenty. Gut busting fullness is not a good thing. It won't get you in trouble when you get stuffed full of veg but what about when your dinner is something like pizza or a nice dinner out? Self regulation is a HUGE part of weight loss and (more importantly) maintenance.0 -
As long as you're not having digestive consequences from eating piles of broccoli and cabbage, then I don't think you need to worry about eating too much.
If you're putting lots of butter or oil on the vegetables, though, that could quickly become an issue.0 -
I think the bigger issue is that you need to feel OVER FULL to be satisfied. It is better to over indulge on veggies, but you are still over indulging. Are you tracking calories? How do those look? Are you eating over a 20+ minute period, so your tummy gets the message?
I am more interested in calories than size of veggie pile!0 -
The only problem I see with stuffing yourself is that there will be occasions where you can't stuff yourself on veggies which will lead to overeating bad things. Part of your new lifestyle needs to be learning to eat for fuel not for comfort so work on backing off on the portions.
One way is to take a bite, sit your fork down, thoroughly chew your food, swallow, pick up food and repeat. It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to register full so you need to eat slowly to trigger that response. Having a full glass of water before you eat can help you eat less as well.0 -
Also with time your stomach does shrink a bit, and you get full sooner. It does take a couple weeks of not stretching it to that super full point. I used to eat seconds every time at supper, and now I couldnt fit them if I tried.0

It sounds like you need to add more fat to your meals. Nothing crazy, just add some butter to your vegetables, use olive oil on your salads, leave the fat or the skin on your meat...that sort of thing. Your meals will be much more satisfying and you'll feel full eating less food. Good luck.0

Totally thought this said something else. haha
But since I'm here, how much is a lot to you?
And I agree with PP that a little bit of healthy fat would go a long way: try a salad with some avocado or an olive oil based salad dressing- and you cn still jam pack it with veggies for that great variety and all the nutrients.0 -

Your stomach does not physically shrink, however eating less helps to reset your "appetite thermostat" so you won't feel as hungry. This is actually a response from the brain.0 -

Wait wait, I am a bit confused here. Doesnt it expand when you eat a lot of food and then shrinks back to its normal size after eating small meals for a couple of days? And would it get smaller than its original size if you eat small meals for a LONG period of time?0
