You may want to look at the way you're running too... if you're running correctly, your heel shouldn't be slamming down on the ground with each run. This video may help:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx6x2cD6Y8Q&feature=related. Also - get minimalist running shoes. You can do research on it - but things like cushioning and arch support and actually bad for your joints. Born to Run is also a pretty good read.
