calcium and iron

So according to mfp I'm not getting anywhere near enough Calcium and Iron in my diet. Which sucks. Becuase I'm really happy with how I'm eating. Any suggestions? I can add in steak once a week no problem and i like cheese and yoghurt but really dislike milk, unless its in coffee. thank you in advance,.

I'd say don't put toooooo much weight on what MFP tells you. A LOT of the times it tells me I'm really below my iron count - only that I'm not. It's just that many foods here on MFP in the database have been put in without the iron content of it. And I don't eat any meat so it's harder for me to get up there.

You don't need to drink milk to get calcium. You can get it from other sources also. Sunflower seeds (throw them over your cereal!?) or leafy greens (broccoli, kale, bok choy), soy beans (some tofu is fortified with calcium, but it's high in iron anyway), molasses (is also REALLY high in iron!!) - lentils/spinach/potatoes all are good for iron, especially when coupled with red peppers etc (high in vit c).
Eating vitamin C together with iron rich foods - that aids the absorption of the iron into the blood stream

But, if you're really worried about it, try eating fortified foods (that have extra iron/calcium added) or take an iron and a calcium supplement if you're really worried.

Hope this helps a little bit!
