Same thing has happened to mine, only when I'm doing triceps though. I'm newish to lifting heavy so that's what I figured was the cause of mine. I stopped doing free weights and along with rest it seems to be getting better.

I would take at least 3 days off, use heat pads and then apply Voltaren joint pain cream 3 times a day. This should help you recover to a degree.
Now when you go back in the gym, always warm up your joints before you start lifting. Don't go heavy every day, lift more moderate weights for higher reps and avoid exercises like skull crushers or any variation of that.
Also if you're looking into a supplement that might help with your joints, I've started taking Universal Animal Flex and it's helped with my shoulder/ knee joints.0 -

This thread piqued my interest because I returned to seriously lifting about 60 days ago, and for the last 30 I've been lifting as heavy as I could on my last set. (I've been doing reps of 10-8-6-4) And my elbow has developed the same problem over the last week. That and my back isn't loosening up as easily as it did. So, I figure it's time to tone it down a little. (I think there's some gym jargon for this, but I don't know what it is) I'm going to take the weekend off, then do 1 rep maxes before Thanksgiving, and figure out what I should do next over the holiday.
Any suggestions as far as reps go?
Is there a good weight lifting group in the group section that I could join.0 -

If your goal is to build muscles, then you never have to worry about doing 1 rep max. Training for strength and training for muscle gain are two different approaches. The ideal rep range for muscle hypertrophy (increase muscle size) is 8 - 12 reps. On some movements where the range of motion is short you can do 10 - 15 reps.
If you stick to the rep range I mentioned above and warm up your muscles/ joints properly, you will be maximizing your muscle gains and preventing injury. Watch a short video by Kai Greene on youtube called "I'll never be a weight lifter". His advice is one of the best.0 -
