Hypoglycemic/lactose intollerent

Hi, so I am Hypoglycemic, and my boyfriend (who I cook for a lot) is lactose intollerent. neither of us are very strict on our diets, but we both want to get better. (He told me this 2days ago!) I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for to help control my hypoglycemia, but i am 100% CLUELESS when it comes to lactose intollerence... any body know anything to help me? I really am clueless. Are there different names for dairy products like there is for sugar? do you have any recipes? I am still learning about hypoglycemia too, so if you have info on that one I'll take it too. I just feel so lost right now haha any help would be great! thanks!

I deal badly with lactose, so I just get lactose-free milk. It works just like normal milk (for cereal, baking, cooking, drinking, etc), and is just very slightly sweeter. :) Yoghurt I seem to do OK with, so I can get any brand I want. Ice-cream, fatty milk cream, and stuff like that I can't have, and haven't found lactose-free alternatives that have real milk in them.

I have trouble with lactose too. I switched to Lactaid milk and that really helped me. You can even use it in recipes that call for milk. I do still eat other dairy sometimes because the milk bothered me the most. I have also recently started drinking coconut milk and putting it in my coffee. It is yummy and a great alternative for certain uses of milk too.

I think there are cheese substitutes available too, but I know less about them. I am sure someone will pop in with some good advice!
