Weighing Scales

This never used to concern me but...
My scales are not as accurate as they used to be - or I'm just ultra aware!
Set to 0.
I get on and weigh... 69.7kg this morning
Set to 0.
Then I do a false reading, just put my foot on it.
Set to 0.
Get on and weight... 68.5kg.
(I didn't bother to do the whole cycle again!)
Now I know which reading I prefer!!!
How accurate are your scales?
Could you recommend one to me? (I live in the UK).
Much Appreciated!

Make sure the scales are on a hard, flat, level surface, otherwise the mechanism can deform slightly and give a misleading reading. I also find it helps to store the scales the right way up, with no weight resting on them.
Even so, I sometimes find that successive readings can differ substantially, as you say! I always take three readings. Sometimes the first reading is different from the second, but the second and third readings almost always agree, so I go with that!
It's a hassle, but worth it to get as accurate a reading as possible, I think. Maybe some scales are more prone to this than variation others. Mine are TCM scales.0 -
Thanks for this! I've moved house a few times and my once accurate scales have taken a battering!
Always weigh on the tiles in the bathroom so don't think that's the issue.0 -
I have to put my scales in the exact same spot all the time or otherwise I get a different reading. I think it's due to the floor being a little uneven.0
