Weight Lifters...is this normal????

I have been going to Body Pump Classes and lifting weights at home...my arms and legs are showing definition but not so much going on with my abs:(. I love the classes...please tell me this is normal and that the rest of my body will start showing results.

In order to show ab definition, you need to have a lower percentage of body fat. "abs are made in the kitchen!"

To have abs definitions, your total body fat need to be low.
Lifting is a way to strength and increase muscle mass. Cut your bodyfat, lift heavy and you will get abs definitions.

I've been lifting for about 10 months and notice major changes in my arms and legs as well but while my mid section is shrinking, there's no abs yet. Gotta work on getting rid of the body fat for those abs to show. In the meantime I'll keep doing my squats, deadlifts, overhead presses and other heavy lifts because I engage my abs and back during all of those so I know they're getting a workout.

I think for most people, abs section is the last to go. It is definitely linked to your overall body fat percentage - I have the arms and legs of a man with probably 6-7% body fat, but I still only really have a decent four-pack because basically all of my body fat is in the lower 1/3 of my abs and back.

Agreed. Lower body fat through calorie deficit.
  • Mine took a while to start showing and I still have some fat on my lower abs and back.. Keep lifting and eating right and you'll get there! Patience
