Tummy shots anyone in 20's or 30's?

I am so scared of getting loose skin. i am 207 pounds and want to get down to 128. I am 5 foot 5 and 25 years old. Does anyone have similar stats to me and have any tummy shots to show of before and after? I would really appreciate it xx

loose skin depends a lot on genetics, age and also on how fast you lose all the weight. So seeing how other people faired isnt gonna help.Just dont lose too much too fast, weight train regularly and hydrate! You will be fine

  • Flabby skin is not true @ least I am very thankful that mine went the other way. I have 3 kids one is a year old I lost 72 pds since Christmas Eve. It is all about the exercise. I think if I just lost weight throguh not eating I would have excess skin but doing it the right way and exercising seems to have helped. I would love to be freinds. I have lots of wonderful supporrtive buddies on mfp who always post great tips and blogs. Gl luck sweetie. BTW you are beautiful. I can see in your pic you are a old soul. Sorry about your mom and the issues you have had but we all carry our cross and I know you can rise above and achive what ever it is you want.

207 to 128, you should be fine, as long as you take your time, You should check out the Beck Diet Solution, It will change your life, Find a REALLY good buddy and do the program. Its not a diet its a cognitive therapy program to teach you how to diet and change your lifestyle ( I read your other post in the introductions)

I went from 220 to 145 - still wanted to get 15 more lbs off but haven't been working at it. I am 5'4, so we are similar, sorry that I do not have pics, but as long as you pace yourself losing, the skin will tighten up as you go, especially at your age.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!
  • What sort of exercise do you recommend? I will be joining a gym in about 10 months but at the moment finances are bad. Can you recommend exercises I can do at home that will help? What did you guys do? Thank you SO much for all the support I already feel so much better

I still have about 50lbs to go, but I am hopeful that strength training will keep me from being flabby.

Edit to add: I am almost 5'2" tall and 37, almost 38 years old.

when i 1st started out i was 249lbs - i am now 191lbs, 58lbs down and i was just as scared as you about lose skin. Again it depends on the person but im finding i have a little lose skin but working on strength training is tightning it right back up! i dont have any pics to show but can tell you its hard work but so worth it! i still have aother 58lbs to go before i hit goal too!
  • I was 185 at my heaviest and got to 138 at my lightest. My belly looked great at 138. No loose skin. At 138 I got pregnant and got back up to 183 and the end of my pregnancy. I am 8 most post baby and 151lbs. My belly still looks pretty good.... However that being said it will depend on your own body. (I also have a friend who was over 200 and got to 140 and looked great! )

I have been doing a CORE class and I have really been surprised at the amount of ab muscle I actually have... I dont see anyone having a issue with extra skin doing that class. I am sure you can google it and maybe do it at home on line or something. ;)

Genetics does play a certain part in it from what I have noticed. I lost 70 lbs and had a huge apron looking amount of skin on my abdominal area . My mother is morbidly obese and she has the same thing. I went and had mine cut off, since there was so much and it was giving me a issue insurance covered it. Everyone is different.

We all get loose skin when we lose weight. You will lose fat faster than it takes the skin to adjust. Lifting weights helps build your lean body mass and "fill in" the skin. A lot of my lose skin is still there because I'm over 50 and waited until I was 50 to finally lose the fat.

Lifting weights will help. You want to start asap because it take longer to develop your muscles than it does to lose the fat.

Everyone needs resistance training to improve their health and bone density and this will especially improve your quality of life when you get older. But you will not gain all that much lean body mass as fast as everyone thinks. Guys of course will gain more. A DXA scan will prove the point. There are lots of stories about changing size but no one REALLY knows unless they do a DXA scan. Here's more about that --> http://bradpilon.com/weight-loss/intermittent-fasting-and-bulking/ this is true whether you IF or not. My DXA scans proved that I really didn't gain that much lean body mass yet I look very muscular for a female. I have very high bone density from over 30 years of lifting yet my lean body mass is still only 104 lbs and my RMR is still only 1380.

I recently had my DXA scan done and at 51.5 years of age I have the bone density of a super athletic 30 year old. That is a direct result of lifting for over 30 years. Now if that is not scientific proof that lifting weights keeps you younger I don't know what is! Also I believe it is why most people think I look much younger than I really am. Because of this I don't have to worry about osteoporosis. If you wait until you are older and your bones start to deteriorate it's a bit too late, you can't get back what you lost, and you can only start a resistance routine that will prevent further damage.

My stats are similar to yours. I'm 5'6. I started around 205, lost the weight, had 3 kids (lost the weight after each of them), and here I am. Still have a layer of loose skin, but I don't think it's awful or anything. I guess the alternative is that I could still be 205.
