What is a proper serving of cooked brown rice?

It says on the package that a serving of rice is 1/4 cup, but after I make a huge container of cooked rice I'm not sure what a proper serving would be?

I don't go by volume and measure everything instead. For rice I usually have between 100 and 150 g of the cooked stuff.0

We measure out 1 cup of uncooked brown rice, by the time it is finished you may have 1 1/2 cups. We measure EVERYTHING!0

Measurements are always in uncooked amounts. What I do when I cook for the family is make propotioned amounts. So, I'll measure out 3 potions. I think brown rice is actually 1/2 cup per serving. So, I'll make 1 1/2 cups, then cook it, then portion it out on the plates. You can't really do it backwards after it's cooked/0

^^^^^This. definitely cooked, and yeh 150g is a lot of rice for me.0 -
I don't own a food scale yet. So I guess I'll go by half a cup of cooked rice as my serving. So that would mean that the 150 calories that are in 1/4 cup are split in half because I'm only eating half that amount once it's cooked? So it would be around 75 calories a serving.0

But, I just looked at my rice and yes you were right, it is 1/4 cup of uncooked rice is a single serving. You cook that and eat it all. That is one serving. You do not measure it after it is cooked. Measurements are always uncooked for almost everything.
If you need to make more, measure out more and divide it up evenly. Like if you need to feed 3 people, make 3/4 cup of dry rice, cook it, then divide it up on the plates into 3 servings. But, you can't measure it or weigh it wet.0 -
I googled this a while back and 1/4 cup dry rice equals about 1 cup cooked. So, that's what I go by0

+1 on Brandon74's answer. But, serving size based on your goal, I'd shoot for 1/2 to 3/4 cup cooked measured in a cup loosely, not packed down. As long as you have a protein source along with it, you are on the right track.0
