A lazy girl JOGGING!

Ok, so I use to be REALLY unfit and then i joined mfp in 2010, lost some weight and became fitter....fast forward 2 years and add back on the weight i lost and then some! Although I lost weight the first time round, that was mainly due to my eating, which is still good, but this wasnt improving my fitness levels apart from the bit of cycling i did!

I would always look at those people who jogged....even ran, but made it look easy! I wanted to be able to do that! Since joining mfp again. it has been my goal to run a marathon....i no im a hell of a long way from doing that, but everyone has to start with small steps right??

So, in september, i moved from ireland to London to attend university and i told myself i wanted to join their gym! And so i did at te beginning of november. However on my first day in the gym, I thought it would be a good Idea to see how long I could jog for without stopping........I lasted a total of.......wait for it....... 1.23mins!!! Its actually quite embarrassing to say an 18 year old couldn't jog! Fast forward to today and I just jogged for a whole 20minutes straight (2.54km). I know its not much to alot of people but Im so proud of myself!

I didnt want to do the c25k program or any other walk/jog/walk plans.......I wanted to jog, nothing else. So after my disastrous first day, I pushed myself to jog for 5mins....next time 8mins....next time 10mins and continued like that!

My first mini goal is to be able to jog 5km and then my second goal is to be able to jog 5km in 30mins!!

I know its nothing spectacular but I thought Id share and show people that if a lazy 18 year old who never jogged in her life and who could only last 1.23mins jogging the first time can last 20mins at a time then anyone can!! ROLL ON my first 5k!

  • You´re not lazy at all! You set yourself goals and you work towards them. When I started joggin, I could barely do 30 sekunds... So you´re doing fine. Now, several months later, I still run approximately 2 minutes. So go you!!

I have had a bad couple of months and stopped running some time ago. Now I will start again! I jog a little when I walk my dog, still lacking to go for a really "run". But I will get there.

    Thank you for posting!
