Can anyone give me their opinion on this?

Well I was at the gym the other morning on the ab crunch machine.. I leaned forward to push my normal weight and it didn't move so I leaned back, then pushed extra hard.. and I think it was too hard. Immediately after I leaned the weight forward it was followed by a bubble like feeling in my abdomen that moved upward towards my chest and I lost my breath. It felt like something popped out for a couple of seconds. This evening I'm really sore and occasionally am getting sharp pains in my stomach.. Has anyone had this happen or do you think I actually hurt myself? And now I have a horrible sore throat to top it off. Ugh.

Hello, here is some quick advice to your situation. The description of what you just wrote is possibly due to a muscle sprain, by abnormal posture or extreme movement maintained during that act you described. Such pain can respond to medications like Ibuprofen 400 mg taken 2-3 times a day. This generally resolves within a week if you give that area rest. If the pain persists, ask your health care provider. Apply some ice or heat pads over the area off and on, to reduce pain and speedup your recovery soon as possible. Good luck and keep us posted.0

You should probably see a doctor instead of asking the Internet.0

actually, the internet recommends going to see a doctor WAY more than what is practical. Follow DJs sound advice. It's the proper protocol not just for this incident but for most gym ouchies.0 -

Yeah this is *probably* not a doctor situation, and certainly not an emergency. RICE and aspirin will probably take care of it. If it persists, then a doctor might be in order.0
