Weight Watchers and several other diet plans don't count calories in vegies. How important is it to count them here?

Weight watchers and other plans allow you less calories for a day to account for the fact you'll be having lots of veggies. I log them because I follow MFP and don't think picking and choosing various parts I like best of multiple plans works well. You'll get lots of different answers though from people here.
Other plans also don't count fruit - you should definitely count it though - a few 100 calorie bananas a day really adds up.0
