How do you set them to stone?

I actually had a quick look at the Argos site and those were the only one that didn't have an obvious dual-scale.

They do get poor reviews for inaccuracy a fair bit it seems too.

    kimberliiw:
Pretty universally stone are used WITH pounds.
So my digital scales (£10 from morrisons on offer a couple of years ago, does body fat too) I got a reading of 11 stone 9.8 pounds this morning. (they show in .2lb increments, but while that does seem to be reasonably accurate - if I was to pick up a bar of soap or something, it'd go up - it doesn't point to the general accuracy, which on bathroom scales is never going to be amazing at this end of the price range at least.)
Never seen a set that only shows stone.

yeah, they don't have a setting for stone. Just a dual scale, stone is across the top and kg is across the bottom.
I have had a look at the reviews and they aren't fantastic.

I think your conversion is where the error is. You stated that 81 KG is 12.1 stone, but I come up with 12.755 stone, which if your scale only shows whole stones would round up to 13. In pounds you'd be 178.57.

Had a look on the argos page and zooming in to the picture there's no 'stone' shown.
Maybe it's a library picture from a european model or something.

If it's on the same scale, what does 13 stone line up with in kg?
Maybe it was just printed wrong.

Picture of the dial showing 13 stone might explain something if you can be bothered... or just take them back and get some better ones if you've got the cash (could always try local freecycle too) ... or just stick with it and hope they're reasonably accurate to themselves at least :).

I personally HATE the scale. Our friendship is OVER. I lock it up for 2 weeks at a time if not more! I use it as a tool to measure progress so I can log the number here. I used to obsess over it but with the daily fluctuations in weight it can drive a person NUTS and unmotivate you. Be careful how serious your relationship with Mr. Scale becomes.

    This is true
81kg = 178.574lbs divide this by 14 to get stones =12.75 stone. The scale will round this up to 13 stone

I am in the uk and use a cheap scale I had had for years and I usually weigh in pounds much easier than trying to convert from one thing to another.

    I said 12.10. I meant 12 stone, 10 pounds. I'd converted 82KG instead of 81 >.<

I think it is probably a stock image. I think it might just be my eyesight because when I looked closely today, my weight had dipped just below 13 stone (82kg) and I think the conversion matches up correctly there...
