It depends on how big you are to start with, your age, gender, and activity level. I'm older and small so my calorie needs are much lower than someone who is younger and larger.

It depends on what you want, your age, your height... Check this site out: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-goal.php

Actually, you lose weight by taking in less calories than your BMR which is the amount of calories your body needs to function daily and maintain your current weight.

No, you would lose weight eating AT your BMR unless all you do all day is lay around and do nothing but breath and have you heart beat and organs work. If you do anything at all (as in getting up and walking anywhere, any moving at all) you will burn more than your bmr. You want to eat less than your TDEE. I know less about this, but I eat at my BMR and lose weight. I could eat more and still lose weight.

For me it is about 1700 calories, so I eat between 1200 and 1500 daily. This is also so I don't beat myself up about going a little over 1200. Remember, if you are aiming for 1200 calories, you can burn calories as well to bring down your 1500 to your aimed for 1200! You are welcome to look at my diary, I am not perfect, but I hardly go over 1500 unless it is my cheat day!

This is kind of a helpful tool I used to figure out how many calories I need to maintain to determine how many I need to burn!

    No No No.

OP: What goal did MFP set you up with when you registered? 1500 is still really low for a majority of people so yes you can still lose. I have a feeling your BMR is higher than 1200 even 1500, but you do not eat below your BMR.
