When I finally discard my original identity

and become a vigilante, one of the first objects of my wrath will be the insufferable jackhats who not only leave their cell phones on audible ring when they're in a movie theater but actually *answer the phone and talk without leaving their seat*.
Went to see Lincoln tonight in a packed theater. Some charming woman came along and ordered the people to the right of us to move down so she could have two seats, and then her equally charming male companion arrived and sat next to her with a plate of reeky sliders and fries, which he ate noisily. Then he answered his ringing cell phone, talked to his mother for a couple of minutes, and then fiddled with the phone on and off for several minutes. My husband gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to figure out how to silence it but was mightily cheesed off with the guy. Then the phone rings again *while it's being announced that Lincoln has been shot* and he actually answers it AGAIN and starts talking! He jabbered all through the doctor pronouncing the time of death and Stanton saying "now he belongs to the ages". And at that point my husband felt like confronting him would have created even more of a distraction to the other theatergoers. Other people were pointedly looking around at the guy but he did not get the hint.
I kept hoping we'd see him outside the theater because after I got the whole story I was ready to punch the guy in the throat. I'm not sure what my husband might have done. Maybe it's best that we didn't cross paths.
Then we wondered what would have happened, if anything, if one of us had left the theater to report him to an employee. Anyone ever actually see a cinema worker remove someone for using their phone?

I hate that too. At least one theater seems to take action.

I've never seen anyone get kicked out, and I have a feeling that most places would not want to deal with irate idiots.0 -
I hate that too!! And, yes I have seen theater managers talk with patrons about disturbing others. That was enough to keep them quiet through the rest of the movie, luckily.0

Oh, that was awesome! She sounded just like an SNL character. Thank goodness I've had other reasons to feel *good* about the young people these days.0 -

This was at Bowtie Cinemas on Boulevard, which has mostly been a pretty nice place. I've never sat next to someone being so over the top rude and it was hard to know what to do. Next time I'll find out what their policy is!0
