Sabotage myself every weekend!! So frustrating!!

Every week I start with a fresh outlook and a great attitude, and during the week I do great... plan out my lunches and snacks that I take for work, eat pretty healthy dinners at night and maybe just a small snack later, all within my calorie range, and I go for walks every lunch hour. And I track religiously all week. THEN, the weekend hits and I don't know what it is, but all my good intentions and willpower just shuts off! It's like a mental switch in my head that says well it's the weekend now so take a holiday from EVERYTHING - not just work, but healthy eating, exercise, and tracking too! And then every Monday I'm annoyed and frustrated with myself and vow to not do it again next weekend, and then the weekend comes and.... well, you can see the viscious circle I think lol. I KNOW what I'm doing every weekend is not what I SHOULD be doing, but I don't seem to be able to get off the pattern I'm on. Sighhhh... sorry, just a vent :)

I do the exact same thing and it is so frustrating! And sometimes I will make it through say Saturday and then bomb on Sunday.... I just feel so defeated. Wish I had some helpful tips for you but I don't, just understanding.

Do you have a cheat day? Let Saturdays (or Sundays) be a day where you relax, have a huge bacon omelette, and put sports on... Track it of course but remember it's what you do in those 7 DAYS that get the results you want. Of course that doesn't mean eat 5 people's worth on Saturday and starve for a few other days to make up for it :)

I'm the same way with this. "WEEKEND WOO!! *Shot shot shot*" = calories. But I just try to tell myself the weekend is just like any other day, except without work (which isn't true for me because I'm a student), and my body can't tell it's different so why will I act like it's different? :)

You aren't alone, I'm the same way. I'll kick butt all week along then come Friday... I start to relax.
Come Sunday, I'm mad at myself for taking 2-3 days and I tell myself I'll be better the following week.
    What happens the following weekend?
    Rinse and repeat

What do you do at the weekend?

I find that I get bored, and I eat when I'm bored. Now, I make sure I'm off seeing some friends, or going shopping, or doing lots of housework, or something that keeps me busy.

Or are you going out a lot? In that case, you could try being the designated driver. If you don't drive, then trying having a drink, then having a diet coke, for example, then alternate. Plan your meals out, look at the menus online, and pre-pick what you can have.

If you want it badly enough, you will do it.
  • That's the frustrating part. I know exactly what I need to do to stop the weekend bingeing... switch up my routine and do more no-eating activities so I don't get bored and eat junk, make sure I track everything I eat, preferably before I eat it so I can see the damage it's going to do first... I KNOW this, which is why it's so frustrating that I DON'T do it! Grumble.

I'm the same way...I just finished recording my weekend. I hate the weekends for this. I have to schedule, thus I end up eating out most of the weekend, which isn't a problem if I go to a place listed on here so I know what I'm getting. The issues is when I go to places that aren't listed and I have to guess, or find something similar. I don't drink enough water though out the week but I REALLY don't drink enough during the weekend. I'm diabetic so I should stay away from the carbs as much a possible, but trying to get something hot (don't always want a salad) with little carbs is very difficult. Protein bars have alot of calories, I don't care for the liquid meals either. Any suggestions?

It's not like you are telling me something new...I just keep doing the wrong thing! I get so mad at myself, but I try to get back on track on Monday. At least we don't quit that is what is important.

Sorry, but this is what you need to do SEVEN days a week ...... if you really want to lose weight, you have to stay focused ALL THE TIME !

Best of luck to you :drinker:
  • I experience the same problem. Don't be discouraged though; a weight loss plan has kinks, and it takes time to figure out what those are and to work a way around them or find out how to prevent them. Something I've discovered for myself is that it's more helpful for me to have 2 or 3 cheat meals/wk (usually one on saturday and one on sunday) as opposed to having an entire cheat day. And I think ahead of time what those cheat meals are going to be: dinner at the parents house? trying a new restaurant? donuts on a saturday morning? It may sound pathetic but I think about it the whole week, carefully planning how I want to use my cheat meals. I've also discovered that, for me at least, I need to be around another person/other people when I eat cheat meals because I'm less likely to overeat/binge that way. For example, one week I decided my cheat meal would be apple cider donuts...all week I planned on having two at most. But, I decided to eat by myself and ended up eating 5 donuts in two days...and they were not small donuts! That being said, pay attention to what causes you to overeat on the weekends and then implement practices that can help you avoid those pitfalls. And remember, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again!
