So So Down :(

I am so down today, I just want to eat a whole pile of stodgy comfort food. I won't because it won't get me anywhere and I know from past experience it will only make me feel better for a bit and then i'll beat myself up for doing it.
I need to stop being so scared of finding a "Happily Ever After"

Have a big old glass of water and clean something to keep your mind and hands busy. Deep clean something. Detail your toaster or your entire kitchen. Go to a store and walk around. Have a non fat yogurt.0

Chin up lovely.....we all have down days.....do something manic to get those happy endophines flooding through your body.....wack on some music, sing your socks off, anything, just don't let today beat you.0

I don't think "Happily Ever After" exists. :ohwell: Maybe we should try for contentment and inner peace instead. Hope you feel better! :flowerforyou:0

I'm sorry. Sometimes the holiday season has that effect on people. Remind yourself that you can get through this in a way that is not detrimental to your progress.0 -

Exercise! Its the key to happiness!!!!!
I also take 5-htp sometimes. It can help, but talk to your doctor about ANY supplements.

Here are some details about it.

I say to skip the comfort food and go get some physical activity in you. That is if you can get away for a bit.0

There is nothing easy about this journey. Don't give up. Keep your eye on the prize. You do not have to be perfect to do this. You just have to have more good days than not. A bad day is not the end of the world. Tomorrow is a new day. Just pick it right up again. Be kind to yourself at all times and never beat yourself up.
Being on a calorie deficit is hard. You can't do this journey on will power alone. You must set up your environment for success. Have a team around you in your real life, not just online. Get trigger foods out of the house. It will take some sacrifice and it's not easy. You might have to say no to some social events sometimes.
Too many changes at once can be hard on some people. I've always eaten healthy so it easy for me to simply eat less. Eating at a calorie deficit is hard on people; even a small deficit puts your body in a state of flux with hormones and such. Everyone is different. Some people can handle a deeper calorie deficit than others, this is not right or wrong, it just is. Stress in your life affects your hunger hormones; lack of sleep, fatigue, job stress, family stress, financial stress, etc. Add in emotional eating issues and it gets even more complicated. Most people can only handle so much change/stress at once, they try to do too much and fail. Sometimes it might be a better strategy to eat at maintenance and make some small changes first, it really depends on how much stress you are taking in at the moment.
For me it's all about a calorie budget. I had less of a budget available when I was losing weight, more to spend now that I'm maintaining and all the tools I used for weight loss come into play for the rest of my life maintaining.
When you have accumulated excess fat, you have accumulated a debt. It is hard to pay off the debt (you have less calories to spend). If you are sitting next to someone your same gender and height and they are not overweight and you are, they get to eat more than you (have more calories to spend) because they are debt free. You have less calories to spend because you are paying off your debt.
It's okay too have some higher calorie days and some lower calorie days, it does not have to be exactly the same all the time. Think of it like a calorie budget for the week. But never punish yourself with too much less food the day after eating more. Always be kind to yourself. You do not have to be perfect to accomplish this weight loss goal, you just have to have more forward days than not. That is all. None of us are perfect. Just keep moving forward and keep your eye on the prize.
It is important to recognize you have a sabotage point there, so instead of backing up go full steam ahead so that you never see that place again (sometimes its a weight you reach and you are afraid of failure). Full steam ahead!

When I feel myself listless and lacking oomph I try to get myself off the sofa and do something, even some dishes, tidy a drawer, turn on the Wii and dance for a while, just something to get me to stop mulling things over. {{{HUGS}}}} it will help, you can do it!0

Not true... I got it. You do feel better when you achieve your goals. It does not mean hardships go away, but you learn you can overcome anything you set your mind to, every time you accomplish something. I'm living my dream.0 -
When I feel down or upset I put on my kickboxing DVD and kick butt!!!! I burn calories and it helps me feel better afterwards. Try it.0

I hear ya on the wanting to eat stuff urge!
Sitting at work for another 35 minutes, taking half day vacation and the stress & tension are SOOO bad in this office that all I'm thinking about is food. I ate my breakfast, then some cooked apples, have drank 50 oz of water - all this in four hours and NOTHING is helping. I am not down, but I am feeling mean as all get out. I'm blaming it on hormones because I have no reason to feel this way and it just came on out of nowhere. No time for exercise today so it's gonna be a tough one!0 -
Thank you All so much for being here and being you. I feel down and negative because I spent to much time with The Mother and i'm having trouble shaking her negativity. But I've vented on my blog, e-mailed my best friend and had a good old ***** Text session with my Sister. The positive vibes will win, now all I crave is a tin on Tomato Soup with a huge wedge of Buttered Fresh Bread.
Unfortunately I can't avoid The Mother or she will not let me and Daddy see each other and that would also mean my Daughter will miss out. I just need to learn to NOT let her get to me and better coping mechanisms for when I can't avoid alone time with her.
Love you all0 -

Sometimes we get down for no reason, maybe the sun isn’t shining, or you stayed in bed too long, who knows. I would say put your sneakers on, plug yourself in to your favorite tunes and go for a walk. Force yourself. By the time you have walked/ran with your favorite tunes for ½ hour or more, you should feel better.0
