5X5 workout

I've started the 5X5 workout recently(on my 3rd week) and I'm liking it a lot. I"ve been doing a combo of my own lifting routine(arm/chest--shoulders/back) but wanted to do something different. I also do Crossfit 2 times a week. My question is this: I got the 5x5 routine by googling it, but is there a "typical" 5x5 workout that people have had good success with? I figure after about 8-10 weeks I might mix it up and change the exercises. Any expert advice is welcomed.
