My scales is staying the same or will go up two pounds down two pounds. I can only walk because of health problems but I try to get in 30 to 45 min in each day. My question I have not lost much but my clothes are really getting big can that be from the walking?

In my first two months on mfp, I lost 0 pounds but nine inches on my waist! You are walking and turning some fat into muscle. So yes, the inches lost are prolly from walking!0

Walking is a great exercise but your food intake will play a far bigger role in weight loss than any exercise.0

I have disability issues from two vehicle accidents. Has left my lower back and right ankle in pretty rough shape. Weight loss has been slow, but steady. However, like you, the inches have been shrinking. For those of us who have limited mobility, the fact that you are able to walk is great. I did not start losing weight consistently until I started walking. I can only go for about 30 minutes at a time, but my distance is increasing little by little. I did purchase some great shoes with insert and that has made a huge diff.
After speaking with my MD, the Foodmeister (nutritionalist at the wellness clinic), and PT...weight loss for anyone is a combination of a healthy consistent diet and exercise.
It may go slower for you and me, but over time, we will get "there".
I am so thankful you are able to walk and give yourself time with the scales. You are welcome to ready my food diary since we are MFP friends and you can see what the professionals have advised for me rather than take conjecture and opinion. Now, this is designed for my age, blood type, BMI, mobility issues, etc. If you can, I would seek a qualified session with an MD and licensed nutritionalist for your set of parameters. I am glad I did and all it cost me was on MD visit, some blood work, and one session with Foodmeister. Glad I did it because I was stuck in a 4 month rut...last was last April and nearly 60 lbs ago. Oh, this is all natural an no meds, fad diets, or any other get there quick goo. Just the right foods will 5 to 6 days of walking and other exercises I can do from a chair.
PM or holler back if you have any questions.
Good question and thanks!
BigD..notso big as I use to be... :laugh:0 -

Weight loss is 85% diet control and 15% exercise.0
