UPPING cals&adding "juicing" to my foods....forever more?

I had HUGE, mega huge success with adding juicing to my daily foods when I first started this mission when I first started--HUGE results and most excellent things were happening in my body. My hair and nails were growing like wild fire, my hair became so thick and gorgeous, it was amazing. My skin glowed and I looked and felt like a young woman again and even my vision started getting better--things weren't as blurry as before I changed my lifestyle and added organic juicing and just eating better and exercising. Of course, my body size decreased dramatically and all was well with the world. Then a series of things happened...with my type A personality...I started exercising like crazy and hurt my foot, and other things. After 6 months, I went back to being a lazy slob -- "resting on my laurels" (stopped exercising entirely) and started eating and drinking ALL the "junk" that got me fat and out of shape. Of course, once I went back to the old and yucky lifestyle--I regained most of the weight I lost, which brought me back to MFP. I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that quick fixes don't work permanently--I want to do this forevermore, starting TODAY! I've seen with my own eyes and experience that this is the way I want to eat to live the rest of my days...but it's a CHOICE, a daily choice for me to not merely talk the talk...but walk the walk in this way.

Well, I'm recommitting myself to start adding juicing again--FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I've also increased my cals today too.

I making a change today, today is the 1st day of the rest of my life...I'm excited, hopeful and angry, a good kind of angry though

"Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are. Augustine"

If any of you guys pray...I covet your prayers in this lifestyle. Those that don't--pls. wish me success in this lifetime endeavor:heart:

How exactly are you getting benefits from juicing over just eating more fruit?

Is juicing just blending up your food? Why not just eat it? What's the point and/or difference?

What kind of juice? Did you stack anything? I hear Test, Tren, and EQ is an awesome stack!

I recently started juicing too! I've just been recording the whole vegetables. I found a formula for how you figure it out but I'm horrible with math and got VERY CONFUSED. Anywho, here it is. Hope this helps.

I like saving the juice from when I smoke a brisket and using it when I cook other stuff. It's delicious. Now that I know it's ultra-healthy I'm going to have to smoke more briskets. I'll stop feeling bad about drinking it too.

    Interesting.

Turkey doesn't have much fiber but it does have bones. I'm curious about how to do this calculation for the turkey juice I'll be using to make gravy this Thursday.

Yeah, that's called "pot-liquor" . Thanks for the idea...I'll definitely be drinking the "Pot-liquid" off of my cooked greens (Collards, cabbage and spinach) or mustard and turnip greens too--haven't thought of doing that for ages. You Rock for posting and bottoms up to your "juice" too :flowerforyou:

The pot liquid from my collard greens has had hamhocks and onions and garlic simmering in it for about 2 hours before the greens go in. It's delicious also.

Maybe I've been too quick to dismiss this whole juicing thing.

That's an excellent question...For me, I reckon it's more of a "mental/psychological" thing, than anything "scientific". Much like listening to music when I exercise, I don't know the scientific rationale for why it pumps me up, but it does. I'm juicing rather than eating them because I can't eat or rather, don't want to eat all those veggies in one sitting like I can get them by drinking them.

I'm not "advocating" this for anyone else...this is just what I'm doing.

Thanks again for your post :flowerforyou:

Not only delicious...but sooo good for you too. We used to drink "pot liquor" when we were kids and were sick--drinking that "pot liquor" truly helped with colds, flu's and other yucky sicknesses we had too. So again, thanks so much for your post:drinker:

I didn't have a "clue" what this meant...google it and here's a link to help explain to someone else, in case they're interested--it's got something to do with muscles and stuff  :

I love juicing :) As for the question on not just eating the food, last night for a snack I had a juice, it had 1 cucumber, 3 carrots, and an apple in it. I don't know about you but I wouldn't ever just sit down and eat that much produce at once. Getting in the vitamins and it's delicious.

I used to juice one stalk of fresh collards and even though I probably only got a teaspoon of the collard juice and mixed with other fruits it made my skin so pretty.

Yes, girl...juicing those collards are MEGA potent and I appreciate you mentioning using only one stalk at a time. I've tried three or four stalks at one time in the past and woooooo--too strong--made the juice super bitter. I'll try using just one stalk too, this week. Thank you so much for posting! :flowerforyou:

I do not juice but I do vitamix. It has been a huge part in my weight loss and I do not plan on changing a thing. I eat far more fruits and veggies by making my breakfast/morning snack a juice or smoothie. Here is what I had this am:

    4 cups of baby spinach
    2 cups of kale
    1 whole carrot
    1 cup of blueberries
1 cup of mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries)
    1/2 a cucumber
    goji berries
1/4 cup of organic lemon pure
    1 cup of watermelon pure
    1" of raw ginger root
1/4 cup of organic apple cider
    tsp of maca root powder
    tbs of chia seeds

Now I there is no way I would eat all of this between 6 am 10am every morning with out blending them together. I get plenty of energy and it keeps me very regular... VERY regular. No idea if this works for anyone else but it works for me, so I totally understand the juicing lifestyle. Good luck with it!

Also, I've heard that the Vitamix' are totally tremendous--how wonderful you have one! I want one too, I wish they weren't so blasted expensive:cry: --I have a friend that has a Blendtec that she swears does everything but wash and dry the dishes-- The reviews for the Vitamix are awesome.

Thanks again for posting and for being so ultra cool:glasses: YOU ROCK sir!

Bendtec and vitamix are the best for smoothies.....I have a blendtec and use it daily. I also purchased an omega juicer las summer....totally awesome. I'm a fruit and veggie lifestyle girl and I use this equipment frequently. It is not a luxury but a requirement. Good luck on incorporating your juice into your daily life! (just a suggestion....it you juice melon, do it as a single juice -and watermelon as a juice will flush out your kidneys and it tastes yummy) Go juice girl!

Thank you so much!!! Let me ask you a couple of question about your Blendtec...

Can you make hot raw veggie and other kinds of homemade soup with yours?

Does it fit under your counter?

Any regrets with it or anything you wish it had?

Did you research or look at/think about the Vitamix over the Blendtec...if so, what made you choose the Blendtec?

    You Rock!
