Help with my calorie count please

With MFP my daily calorie count is to be 1570 and I am not sure that is good for me. I have changed it a few times from 1200,1250.1300,1350. I have went online to diffrent sites and checked what it should be and it is all over. I have lost 12 pounds in about 6 weeks and now it has started going up and down up and down. I just want to know what you all think my count should be. I am Female ,age 45, 240 and can only walk daily for about 30 to 45 mins.

If you make it too low your body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose anything. It will just store it. I would go with what MFP says when you put in your goals and stick with it. Your body has to make adjustments so you will hit plateaus occassionally. If you keep changing your amount of calories for a day you will really screw yourself up and may not lose anything. The experts say the best weight loss is 2 or so pounds a week. If you aren't losing maybe if you could up your activity of some kind (my biggest problem) that would help.

    Good Luck...
  • I am a walker also, and it takes some work to make a walking workout really work. Even with 30 to 45 minutes you can find ways to boost the benefit of the walk. Experiment with doing intervals after your warmup a few times weekly. Set goals - like doing 5 intervals of very fast walking for 30 seconds followed by 5 intervals of 2 minutes to recover. Eventually make the very fast intervals longer. Use your arms throughout the walk - pump them as you're going. If you live near hills choose a route that will make you climb - 30 minutes with hills is better than 30 minutes on flat terrain.

And of course look for ways to get in mor movement in th course of the day - park further away from your destination, for instance. If you can cut your lunch short by 10 minutes and walk around your work place, that's a plus.
