Loosing Focus and Need Motivation

Hi everyone,
I joined MFP almost a year ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I started my journey around 260lbs and lost 61 pounds and have 40 lbs to go to my goal. I was so focused eating well and exercising then about 2 months ago I started to loose focus and I would like to say I hit a plateau but I know very well it is because I have been eating at night when everyone else was asleep and have been doing the "I will start fresh tomorrow or on Monday" and of course not logging everything. I know what I am supposed to be doing but something just keeps me from doing it. I am a stress/emotional eater and I have been trying to deal with my stress as best as I can and to be honest I am not even sure what I am hoping from this post I guess just wondering if anyone had a similar story and was able to get back in the game and reach their goal.
Thank you for listening

Pretty much all of us with lots to lose have been there hun! You know what you've been doing & it will be hard to break those bad habits, but not impossible. You've done it before & you know what you have to do. If you're not ready to do it right now, that's ok too, just be honest with yourself about it. Decide what limits you're going to place on yourself to minimize the damage, because it's not a good idea to just say "fck it" for an indefinite period of time & think you won't make your situation worse.
In my case, I'm not logging right now & I accept that the consequence is that I probably won't lose any weight because I'm not trying too hard to manage my intake. However, I am requiring myself to keep up my exercise so that if I do gain, it will be minimal. I've decided I'm ok with that for the time being. It's ok to take a break from weight loss when it's such a long-term effort like it is for us. For me I've decided it's ok because I know that I am still committed to my weight loss & don't feel that I'll have trouble getting back to the logging when I'm ready to do it. I may wait until after New Year's to do it, but I may start back sooner. Either way, the continued exercise is more important to my overall fitness anyway & I'm still doing that. Having fitness goals to work towards makes it easy to stick to my routine, so maybe that's something to try?
Only you can determine what will work for you, so look back at what has worked in the past & start there. Pick one thing to work on, then when you're ready, pick another. It won't be perfect at first & you'll probably have to force yourself to do it for a while. But that won't last long, & eventually you'll find yourself back in your groove.0 -
Just like you I started off with grit and determination, then I got complacent, thought I could get away without logging everything I ate, and before long all the hard work I had put in disappeared .........loads of weight back on......but for the first time ever I have got back on track before I was heavier than when I started.......I am logging everything I eat and feel loads better no more sleepless nights.....onwards with a smile on my face....I can do this....and so can you ........hope that helps......0
