Keeping the friends list small

Hey there,

Just wondering if anyone else likes to actually get to know the people they are getting support from and giving support to? I have seen so many people that have upward of 500+ friends and although I'd love to support that many I would never have enough time in the day!! In saying that I still have room for more people who would like support and help as well as tips from my open diary. I dont and never will claim to be perfect but I can cheer on like the best of them.

  • Naw...I just friend everyone I can...then never speak to any of them. If they try to interact with me, I delete them immediately. I am really shy that way.
  • Agreed!! on 14 friends here (could use a few more) so that i can see peoples health ideas more easily.

I keep mine between 30-40. If I add someone, and they haven't logged in for 3 weeks or more, I delete. Obviously they were never serious about committing to a goal.

It's not the size that counts!

I'm not a very good "social media" friend, because I don't pay any attention to the dashboard/wall/whatever the RSS homepage feed is called. I come in and log my food/exercise and read some threads, but that's about it. So I try not to have too many friends because then I feel like a jerk for not responding to their every status update. :) But that's just me.
  • I've been on MFP for a few months and at first I thought it would be more important to have a lot of friends on here, but I think it's more important to have a smaller group of friends who can be supportive and be able to respond to each other without the generic "way to go" or "keep it up". I'd like someone who could be more hard on me to keep up the better parts of what I'm doing and point out the bad stuff and give me *kitten* when it's needed.

I personally lack motivation to keep going after I miss a few days.

I feel the same way. I scroll through every now and then and delete those who arent committed. I still have a handful of friends i had from the beginning and they are wonderful. I am always open to more dedicated people however to get tips/support from so feel free to add me :-)
  • As much as I love supportive friends I delete those that post the generic "Great job! Keep it up" on every one of my diary posts. I only have five friends but I only want friends who actually want to get to know me and what I'm trying to do and vice versa.
