Hello,

Do anyone know how to calculate the TDEE? I seen a million calculators when I googled and lots of formulas. Each one given me different results from 1700 to 2200. I think it will be next to impossible for me to lose weight without this number. I weight 185, 5feet 5 inches and 28 years old. On the days I don't go to gym I move around a lot I have a desk job but I don't just sit here all day but I don't do any heavy lifting either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I also wore my HRM all day and the calorie burn it gave was ridiculous about 3500.

  • There is a general calculator on MFP for your metabolic rate if that is what you are looking for?

The results for that one was 1511 which is my BMR(aka what my body would burn if I stayed in bed all day).

This comes from the following website: http://www.cordianet.com/calculator.htm

TDEE is calculated by multiplying your BMR by your activity multiplier from the list below:

Sedentary = BMR X 1.2 (little or no exercise, desk job)
    Lightly active = BMR X 1.375 (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk)
    Mod. active = BMR X 1.55 (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk)
    Very active = BMR X 1.725 (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk)
Extr. active = BMR X 1.9 (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.)
