math says i should be losing more than i am in reality

here's the gig, i'm beginning to think that my body is so used to being a certain percentage body fat, that it doesn't want to shed the weight loke the "math" says it should.

i am going to spin class 5-6 days per week and doing lifting 2-3 times per week. I am eating and NOT starving, but maybe should be eating more, given the amount of exercise i am doing.

Maybe it's just my 44 year old metabolism.

so, my question is, the math says I should be losing two pounds per week, where it appears as though it's only about 1 pound a week on average, what should I be doing different.

    lower expectations.
with only 20 lbs to lose, you should aim for 1/2 lbs or 1 lbs per week.
Recalculate your calories (if you go with 1 lbs per week, you should eat 500 kcal more per day then you eat now)
after upping your calories you may gain in the first 2 weeks but then you will start losing.

aiming for 2 lbs means your body will fight back - you are cutting too much, and your body response by lowering the metabolism.
