Like I said I am feeling low at the moment and all I want to do is eat....I am not even enjoying the food at all. I have been on a low dose of anti-depressants for about 5 months, but to be honest I dont think they do much.
What have others done to improve their mood and re-gain motivation for healthy eating? At the moment I am
not enjoying attending the gym class I usually attend or even going for a dog walk, which I usually enjoy.

I exercise.
cause while I exercise, my human brain and body are busy as hell making happy drugs........ Middle School Health Class 1010 -
Been there, done that, got dozens of t-shirts!! Just got my most recent t-shirt last week! LOL
Like Yoovie said, when you exercise, your body makes endorphins (happy stuff).
Try to find out what's causing you to want to go eat all the time. I call this "dealing with my demons." It might be a good time to bump up the happy pills too (anti-depressants). I'm taking a lower dose (10 mg) of Lexapro, but it seems to be working. I know my Dr. said most people usually take 20 mg.
Also, try to find something/anything you do enjoy doing. Knitting - playing piano - reading - listening to music. There has to be something to do you can find joy in that doesn't involve food. It's hard for me to do that too - but I did recently go to the store and get some yarn - started knitting and my daughter has me knitting her a scarf now. She's really excited about it, and I'm enjoying the process.
If anything, keep logging your food, and try to realize that you are taking positive steps to improve your health - whatever it may be. You have to work at your own pace and figure out those things that you're willing/able to do to put yourself in a better frame of mind to increase your opportunity for success tomorrow. (Hope that made sense! LOL)0 -
Try writing out the crap going thru your head, or listening to music that moves you. I know sometimes you are just too dang down to exercise, but eating is NOT the answer.
Take a shower, brush your teeth and talk a walk around the block or even around the house. Try to notice something new. Saw a bird's nest I hadn't noticed before when I was out this am.
Sometimes I give the dog a massage sending healing thoughts into his old bones. He really enjoys it and I feel better after.
Do your nails, clean off one shelf, spray perfume or light some incense.
All kinds of tricks I have found that helps me when I just want to sit and eat and eat and eat.
One day at a time. For today I will be good to myself. Just today.0
