Water?

How important is water? Will it help me to lose weight or is it just good for my body? I am thinking both, but would love to hear some verification...Thanks

Water is your healthiest and cheapest drink! It is important to your health. I am not a water lover myself. I make sure and get 32-50 oz a day at least, and the rest of the time I drink diet soda and hot tea. My nutritionist said as long as my urine is pale yellow, I'm fine. I don't track water on here, always forget.

lol, seriously though I've seen several studies both for drinking several pints of water a day and some supporting just drinking when you're thirsty, the majority of people on here will testify that drinking large quantities helps shift water weight ironically. However don't drink too many litres of the stuff at once it can drop your salt levels dangerously low, hope that helps.

your body needs water to function properly. i used to be quite neglectful of the "8 glasses a day" rule, but have forced myself to follow it in the last 18 months or so and it makes a huge difference. you can use it to help you lose weight, a full glass of water takes up quite a bit of space in your stomach, so if portion control is a concern you could drink a glass of water before a meal and that would leave less room for food. i also find staying well hydrated to be good for avoiding bloating too. it's great for your skin, not just for keeping it clear but mine seems brighter and more youthful now. i find workouts really tough when i'm dehydrated, bear in mind if you do workout and you sweat, your body has lost fluid. i often find if i've not been drinking enough water my concentration can drop and sometimes i get headaches, but within about 10 minutes of downing a glass this usualy lifts and i feel much better. i know water isn't the most exciting tasting thing ever, but if you can get into the routine of drinking it throughout the day you will notice the benefits. good luck :)

Make sure you consume at least eight glasses each day.

Otherwise, your body will go into dehydration mode and you'll retain water.

^This. Your body will panic and store everything you drink.

Water keeps you hydrated and it can help if you have a sodium overdose.
