A different kind of success

So I was thinking, while I was on the elliptical at the gym tonight . . .
A year ago, I was in so much pain that I couldn't think of anything else. I know I was making it day to day, but I don't rmember anything good sticking out. I had been in a car accident in August 2005 and have whiplash injuries to my neck, scar tissue along my shoulder blade and finally had my shoulder reconstructed in July 2006. I have chronic nerve pain in my right arm as a result of the scar tissue/injury and continued stenosis in the vertebrae in my neck.
In Fberuary, my doctor referred me to the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program at the Cleveland Clinic. I started in the middle of March. I was very surprised to meet people there from all over the world (North Carolina, France, Alabama, all over Ohio, etc), but we all had one thing in common. We had pain that no doctor could fix.
It was like boot camp. I was in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy 18 hours each per week. They eventually found a medication that helped my nerve pain significantly.
Unfortunately, that medication had made it impossible to take off weight.
This week, I have been to the gym twice and exercised at home three times. Go me. Last week, two of my doctor's and I have decided to gradually take me off of other meds that I am on for headaches. In hopes that I can get some of this wurden off of my frame.
I may not be close to where I want to be, but I am a hell of a site better than I was a year ago. For this, I am grateful!
