It doesn't look like it will be correct for me. One week to go, but far from the weight they told me I would be. Think it depends per person.
  • There are a lot of days in five weeks and they are not all going to be the same. That being said you have lost 56 pounds!!! So whatever you are doing it's working. And as long as it is healthy and sustainable, keep it up!

For me it hasn't been accurate. I believe it mainly looks at calorie deficit, not the macros that you're eating or the type of exercise you are doing. I'm strength training, so the scale hasn't moved, but I've lost inches. So keep on tracking both your weight and your measurements/body fat % to see your real results :)

it might be right but that is only if everyday is exactly the same. I don't know anyone who eats and exercises exactly the same for 5 weeks straight.

Very recently for the first time, I actually wrote down on my calendar what MFP said I'd weigh in 5 weeks. Come to find out, 5 weeks later, it was EXACTLY what it said I would be :) Go MFP!!

  • It's never been accurate for me, but I really wouldn't let that put you off. It's based on a mathematical equation, and biology is a lot more complex than that. I still like it, though, and I bet it works for a lot of people :)

I think that's just an average based on your day. It says if you ate like this every day then, you will weigh xxx lbs in 5 weeks. One day I ate a bunch of homemade modified cookies (before checking things here and realizing I forgot about the calorie content of the margarine) and it actually told me I'd GAIN weight. As long as you are being fairly consistent in your calorie consumption and your exercise it should be fairly accurate.

Nope. It never told me I would gain, but I did.

Every day for 5 weeks has never been the same, however.

I am curious to see if it works.. I remember what is said yesterday so I think I will mark that on my calendar and do a test..

As others have said, it explicitly says that if every day were like today.. you would weigh X in 5 weeks. It's not even an average, just a "if you burned the same exact amount of calories and burned the same amount by eating the same exact thing for 5 weeks, you'd weight this."
  • Agree 150%!!! Great advice

For a laugh I have started to add the figures into my food notes.... Wonder how close it will?
