I am on day 8 of a migraine. I tried the Imitrex pills, they make me hallucinate and don't help my migraines, so I am a bit leery of getting the shot. If the pills make me hallucinate I'm afraid the shot would be worse, by my head and eye have been throbbing for days and the nausea and sensitives. I want to be better for Thursday.
Anyone used the pill unsuccessfully but the shot works?

The shot and pills worked identically for me, and had the same side effects (freezing cold, tingly hands and feet, and vertigo). The side effects have always been worth getting rid of the migraine pain for me, and the oral is much more convenient than the injections.

For a long time, I didn't have any choice but injections and was very thankful when the oral came out.

The shot is pretty much the same as the pill for me. Although the shot works much faster and I can actually feel it running through my body.

So it sounds like, if the oral doesn't help my pain and makes me hallucinate, the shot will be about the same? Not much help? Darn.
I guess I'll do a few rounds of Fioricet... And sleep all day tomorrow.

Yes, faster relief with the shot, but both pills and shots worked the same.

The shot works within minutes - like two minutes. Ahhhh, what a relief. Really expensive, though. I used them when I was at work and would get a migraine - since the pills take over an hour for me.

I then switched to Maxalt. I liked it much better than Imitrex because the pill dissolves under your tongue, and it works in about 30 minutes and didn't give me the awful anxiety that Imitrex did.

Thankfully I don't get migraines anymore. Good luck.
