Hey All,
So, I've tried this whole exercise/weight loss thing a few times...and it's never works.
I don't have a whole heck of a lot of support, so I'm hoping to find it here!
Let's see...about me...I'm 25, living in BC Canada...and I have about 85lbs to lose (to be honest, i'd be elated with 50!)
I've been on here for 10 days and am down 3 so far, I just want to keep it going in the right direction...

Thanks for taking your time to even read this - I appreciate it!

Thanks you guys...it's the healthy eating plan that's killing me...apparently all of my favorite foods are the ridiculously unhealthy ones. Most of my family has the same weight problems that I do, so I definitely know where I inherited the bad eating habits from!

I don't have many friends on here yet and am pretty new, but I have found that this is one of the best environments you can put yourself in if you are seeking out a healthy lifestyle and find that you are alone in your journey. I'm a fairly healthy person but due to a new occupation I've got to get a lot stronger/toned than I am currently. I love food and often skip out on workouts, and this site helps me manage myself way better than when I was doing it on my own. Not to mention there are so many successful people here that will help you find the inspiration you need. Welcome, and best of luck to you!!

Thanks again...and any tips that anyone might have are accepted and appreciated!
  • have you checked out the Looney Spoons and Crazy plates books (there are three in the series I think the other is Eat Shrink and be merry) they have some great versions of some old favourites. You said most of the things you like are really bad, well these ladies give you recipes for things like Butter Chicken, Chilli, fried chicken ect that are much healthier alternatives and to me they don't taste like your missing out.

Congrats on the weight loss so far! My husband and I joined up recently too and have found the site very useful. Daily tracking of food, water, exercise is really helping us to see how much we put in our mouth. I love the posts by others providing useful tips and most of all support.

    good luck to you!

Welcome and good luck. I think if you take seriously posting every morsel that goes into your mouth, it really makes you think about what you are eating and why you are eating it; at least that is the case for me. I try to purchase only healthy foods - vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and consciously stock healthy snacks - laughing cow lite wedges, rice crackers, rice cakes, hummus. I actually gave away and/or threw out food from my frig and pantry when I started so as to NOT have those unhealthy foods in my house. It does make a difference at 10pm at nite when I am craving those foods and they are not conveniently located in my kitchen
I also work a rather sedentary job and enjoy TV at nite, but am training myself to do leg lifts, or lift weights during commercials, just to be doing something active, even if it is only for 2-3 minutes at a time. You can even just stand up and march in place.
Stick with your plan, even when you have a "bad" day and I promise you we all have had them. You just have to forgive yourself and start afresh the next day! You CAN do it!
