Advice for / from 50+ year old guys

Hey all - I've been doing MFP for a couple months now and am wondering if there's a band of older guys here who can share success stories and tips. One thing I am wondering about is lifting weights and how useful it is when you're over 50 (or 57 like me)
I'm thinking that the old bod isn't going to get muscular like it would have when we were 20-30 years younger. Of course there are other benefits, like overall strength and flexibility.
My preference is definitely cardio in various forms - cycling, low impact gym stuff, and when I lose some weight, it'll be running as long as I stay injury free.
What do you say guys?
