I was under 50g carb a day for 6 months recently, more or less (mostly much less). By popular consensus this puts me in a ketogenic category.
The fact that you used the phrase 'no carbs' rings alarm bells with me. Carbs are not to be feared and can be incorporated into a nutrition plan ... even a ketogenic one if this is your goal. The total elimination of carbohydrate is not desirable.
I've recently switched to a more balanced plan because, to be honest, I could pack on weight just as effectively in ketosis as I could when I ate what I liked. With not that many more calories to be honest either.
Variety won out in the end. It was an interesting journey though.
That's it, my experience, I wish there was some keto magic to my fat loss escapades but I can't report any.0 -
thats the biggest problem with keto , it makes u look leaner and does burn fat but once u have a cheat meal or high carbs your body sucks it all up and you put on atleast 5pounds and instantly feel S##t . im just doing it for 14 more days then will slowly incorperate carbs back in0

That's because the principal loss on a keto diet is water / glycogen which gets rapidly restored once you start upping carbs again.
Fat loss comes down to calorie deficits in the final analysis.0 -
yes i understand that it boils down to a calorie deficit but results just look alot better when u not carrying around water , im yet to meet a person that has had amazing results on keto0

Yeah, that's definitely true. You have more definition when you drop subcutaneous water but that state never lasts very long...0 -
i saw a hint of abs for the 1st time in my life then had a "carb up" . next morning i was 7pounds up and looked bloated0

I do it on and off. I find it easier to control my hunger when in keto so it helps me eat less and stay in a calorie defecit to lose weight. I do get a bit bored and crave fruit (stick to berries on keto) so tend to do it for a few weeks at a time and then have a break and introduce fruits and other carby stuff. And yeah I do gain back water weight and a little bloat but obviously not the fat I lost.
Feel free to add me!0 -
for me the weight from carb ups look like fat , looks like i gained 10pounds of fat ! lol0

I can imagine. I still have a lot of weight to lose so it's not as noticable in my body but even just 5lb water weight can make a big difference in my face.0 -
Er average glycogen stores are bewtween 8 and 14 pounds...so after carbing up, you are replacing that lost water weight...first, then fat if you continue to overconsume calories...carbs are not the enemy, in fact if you are training they help with energy levels big time and overall mood. Vegetables are complex carbs, do you not eat those?0

i do eat vegetables , not in super large quanities ... glycogen stores from 8-14pounds wow thats intense , makes sense tho0
