Tell me the best ones to do. How many reps per set?

The only equipment that I have is an exercise ball, a yoga matt, and a few free weights (10 - 25 pound range).

There's got to be a better alternative than just the usual crunch.

  • I know quite a lot but the problem is I don't know what they're called and it's hard trying to describe how to do them.
What you could do is the Tae Bo abs and glutes dvd. You Can just learn the exercises from there so you will know how to do them without actually having to play the dvd all the time. It's quite old so it's not very expensive at all, but so effective. My mum has great abs and she's always used that video as long as I can remember. Every time I do it my abs are killing the next day. The video spends about 15 mins on abs then about 15 on glutes. It's a fast paced work out so if you do it it counts as cardio aswell.
Other than that you could youtube some stomach exercises. And in terms of how many reps per set; don't worry about numbers, just do them until you phsyically can't do them anymore, as people with different strength stomachs need to do different amounts of working out for it to be effective.
  • I like them on my steps, 100's, and a double crunch.

Look up something called a "hindu pushup" it is good for your arms but when done correctly it is great for your core, i love them! ?outube has some great tutorials on how to correctly execute them (i would copy/paste one but i'm on my phone atm :/). Just make sure when you're coming back to starting position you don't push off with your thighs/legs. that decreases the effect on your core. Try it and let me know what you think!

One that kicks my gut is: (I don't know what you call this but here's my best description of it)

Lie on the mat with arms and legs in the air with feet together.
Holding set of weights in your hands make circles with your feet to the left then right like 12 times.

The lower you circle your feet the more intense it is.

    This is my most hated/favorite.

Also plank. Hope this is slightly helpful.

Keep in mind...abs are revealed in the kitchen!

Anything special in the kitchen that I should/shouldn't be doing aside from the obvious calorie deficit?

Meeting your daily macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats) and calorie requirements!
Also, are you taking any supplements? (protein shake, multivitamin, fish oil, glutamine, etc)
