The Morality of Eating Meat/Dairy

I have seen many threads around here about regarding whether or not it is healthy for humans to eat meat and dairy.

Here's a question:
Is it ethical?

Do you think slavery only counts if the word applies to humans?
Do you contribute to violence with your other purchases?

Do you have a pet? And if so, does it have feelings?
Would you be mad at me if i killed and ate your pet?

Do you wear fur? Would you?
Why or why not?

Do you kill the animals that you eat yourself?
Would you still eat meat if you have to?

Is it ethical to burn off the beaks of birds?
Is it ethical to force feed ducks for foie gras?
Is it ethical to chain down baby cows for veal?

Does mankind own animals?
Does the white man own the black man?
Does a man own his wife?

Do we have the right to enslave/own/kill living beings?

I recently made the connection. I used to eat meat and dairy and not think about why. It was tasty, i was told it was healthy, i was raised that way, and i didn't ever meet the animals being hurt.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS: Meat/dairy doesn't come from a package, a box, a store, or a shelf. It comes from living breathing beings that are fully aware of their surroundings. It comes from animals that don't want to die. It comes from animals that feel pleasure and pain.

Yep - Ever heard of to each their own. It's pretty rude of anyone to tell anyone else how to live their lives.

On another note I just had THE best venison steak last night

I don't think it's ethical so I don't eat it. But I can't make other people change, so I don't push the subject.

I can understand people feeling guilty... Tasty tasty guilt. In the form of steak. With ribs. Smothered in BBQ sauce. Oh the guilt..

Okay, we get it. You don't eat meat/dairy. Don't stoop to the pathetic levels that anti-abortion nuts and PETA freaks stoop to. Shock value makes you look like an obnoxious tool.

Yes I own a pet or rather pets. We also had a pond full of fish. (koi and gold fish) Sadly, a river otter got in our back yard and ate all of them. No joke.

Does it hurt my rabbits feelings that I eat meat?

    I would think NO!

    Let's think here.

Go Africa to where lions and other big cats live. They eat meat. It's the law of the jungle.

Be a vegan for all I care. Just don't tell me NOT to eat.

I'm gonna have my turkey on thanksgiven...

    AND!

When I go fishing and I catch a fish I'm gonna eat that said fish.

Trust me, the last catfish I caught and cooked was...the best thing ever.

If you want to talk about ethical?

Than lets. But keep meat out of it.

I am omverous! And I will stay that way!

    Here's a question:
Is it ethical? <-- Let me quote Rippetoe: "Okay, have you ever been around chickens? They are stupid, uncooperative, inconvenient, ill-tempered creatures. They get what they deserve. **** chickens."

Do you think slavery only counts if the word applies to humans? <- Obviously, yes.
Do you contribute to violence with your other purchases? <- I frigging love my blood diamonds. So cheap, and so brilliant!

Do you have a pet? And if so, does it have feelings? <- Mr. Barkypants has feelings, he says so on his livejournal page.
Would you be mad at me if i killed and ate your pet? <- Ask me again after he poos on the carpet.

Do you wear fur? Would you? <- No nd No.
Why or why not? <- Because it's too warm and itchy.

Do you kill the animals that you eat yourself? <- Only the bugs. I have yet to successfully strangle or squash a cow.
Would you still eat meat if you have to? <- If I could eat SAME DAY KILL meat? Fk yeah!

Is it ethical to burn off the beaks of birds? <- Only if they won't shut the f**k up about the election.
Is it ethical to force feed ducks for foie gras? <- Foie gras is expensive. Lucky ducks.
Is it ethical to chain down baby cows for veal? If you don't chain them down, how will you keep them from flying away?

Does mankind own animals?< - Yes
Does the white man own the black man? <- Does your mom own you?
Does a man own his wife? <- Ask me again when I'm living in the middle east.

Do we have the right to enslave/own/kill living beings? <- Living beings yes, Sentient beings, no.

Was your shirt made in a sweatshop, were your nikes made by children, was your bike assembled by paid workers... (retorical by the way no need to answer)... slavery is a real part of many human being's lives, I believe there is so much wrong with the way we treat other people that we should fix, before moving on to other species.

Do you drink coffee or eat chocolate? Do you wear diamonds? There is a decent chance that slave labor was used for those products too.

    My question for you:

Living beings are killed, hunted, and destroyed to deliver even your organic vegetables to your table: How do -you- feel about contributing to murder, you monster?

Does an animal not have a right to life just because it is small?

Do short people deserve to be exterminated if you find them in the cabbage patch?

If you had to personally kill every mouse, gopher, bird, snake or other pest animal to get your veggies, would you?

Short and simple reply, while I do not think it is right for people to mutilate animals, we DO have control over them. I eat them because it is permissible and not against my religion. They do not have souls like we do (if you think differently then fine) but while they are cute companions, when they die, they die and that's it. Humans are very different creatures who have souls to save and will live an eternity whenever their Earthly life leads them to.

To end, I like and eat both meat and dairy, dairy like it's going out of style. Tastes good and is here for my benefit and nourishment, I'll support any efforts brought to my attention that will support animals being killed in a ironically speaking "humane" way. This is why I stop eating at certain places who pump animals w/ steroids, etc.

That's how i started. It was only after quitting meat for health that i was able to open myself up to the ethical side of it. 5 years ago, i was just like all these other people on here. In denial, and bragging about how many animals had to die for my pizza. The animals that you are not eating don't care why you aren't eating them, so keep it up.

Let's get logically balanced on the ethics. Do you eat vegetables or fruits? Are you aware that millions of lifeforms are killed during the harvesting of a single crop. Just because they're slimy and/or have more than four legs, does it make it any better? Better still, do you breathe? Are you aware how many lifeforms are destroyed with each intake of air? Best not do that either.

Death is a part of life. Even Buddhists who swear not to destroy any living thing are aware of that. Every time they go for a walk they reflect on the life they are destroying beneath their feet.

Not advocating inhumane practices here, just sayin' it's a matter of perspective.

    Eat meat, don't eat meat.
Your business alone. But the choice to abstain doesn't make you as superior as you seem to feel.

Tigers are carnivores. There is no need for that word "too" because we are not carnivores. If you think you are, please upload a video of yourself chasing down and tackling some prey, and devouring it. Please post the link here.

How could i possibly be bugging you? You have every right NOT click on this thread.

You're right, humans are not carnivores. We're omnivores.
