Why is it so hard for me to stay motivated?

I'm new to MFP and have only lost 1kg to date.Problem is I'm finding it hard to lose weight. There are days when I totally stick to eating healthy and exercising, and other days when I just binge like crazy.Lately I've been feeling very unhealthy,my body aches most days and sometimes its hard for me to get out of bed,I know I have to lose weight in order for me to become healthier and feel better about myself, but staying focused and motivated is really really hard for me :-(

Unless there's a specific medical reason, just relax and don't try to lose weight if you don't want to.

The first few steps are always the hardest. I remember when I started to lift weight again and though how hard it was to get back to where I used to be. 4 months later, I'm stronger than I was when I was 26, and it was all about persistence and consistency. Don't focus on the big goal, focus on the small ones, and as each small one is accomplished before you know it, you are almost to your big goal.

Motivation is not necessary. Just doing it no matter how you feel IS.

You are here, that is a start. Its new, its different, and its not necessarily comforting. In fact it hurts right? Hurts to say no to the food you want to eat, hurts to exercise. Its easier to just not do- which is why so many don't do anything- until they hit the wall of misery!!

Being overweight is hard. Shopping only in plus size stores- hard. Comments and attitude from friends, family, non friends about your weight - hard. Want to do simple things with kids or friends, like running and jumping.........hard

Exercise- hard. Getting your eating under control- hard

Be overweight- hard- Be fit- hard...............either way its not going to be easy- up to you to choose your hard! Now, if you want to change, then stop the self pity party about how hard it is- and get to work. Or, continue to be miserable, watch health deteriorate- thats hard too. Either way both options will lead to some hard, and some pain- but there is one that will lead you to so much more happiness, personal worth, achievement and ability to do things you haven't in years.

Maybe you need to eat a little more. If you are trying to eat too little, you are likely to binge to compensate.

The others are right, getting healthy is hard, BUT staying overweight is hard and WILL get harder! Nothing makes this journey easy, but I find for me it makes all the effort and sweat easier if you have mini goals along the way. You've lost 2 kgs since you started (hope I have that right) why not set up a small reward when you reach 5 kgs lost and then 10 kgs and so on until you are either at your goal or you become more comfortable with your new lifestyle and just want to set a bigger reward for when you reach your target weight. I am not thinking a "food" reward so much, maybe a movie night out, a new book, a new piece of clothing or workout wear, new makeup, a spa day, new hairstyle, whatever would motivate you most, then when you feel you motivation slipping, think about your reward waiting for you when you reach that next milestone.

You really have taken the first step towards success, just keep logging your food in your diary every day, eat sensibly, start to workout if you can, and be patient and you will see results!
