I got plain popcorn kernel today. Does anybody know how much of uncooked kernel to be equal to 1 cup of cooked popcorn?

I only make homemade popcorn- i like it in the stove/air popper with very little oil- no salt or butter OR in a brown paper bag in the microwave (no oil, salt or butter). I havent made it on the stove in a while so i cant say those measurements BUT for microwave, a double serving is 2TBL and thats 62cals. 2TBL makes about 3/4c, maybe 1c? I dont know but it makes quite a bit. Not quite 1/2 of a paper bag.

I went thru the effort of testing & measuring. This is for large yellow kernel corn (there are different sizes which can make a difference). I saved it so you may be able to did it in the database under plain, airpopped popcorn Strike's Farm.

    1/4 cup aka 4 tbs makes 6 cups popcorn = 386 calories
    1/8 cup aka 2 tbs makes 3 cups popcorn = 193 calories

    Good luck

P.s. I use an Orville Reddenbocker Power Pop $10-12 at Wal-Mart. Makes great fast No oil popcorn in microwave & most kernels pop.
