What to eat before morning exercise?

I work out in the morning as soon as I get up at 6:30 and only have 1 hour. So I never usually have anything, and if I do...it's half a yogurt or a half a bran muffin. Is it bad not to eat anything? Any suggestions?

It is fine to exercise without breakfast - it's personal preference.0

If you don't want anything then don't have anything - it's not necessary. However if you need a boost then carbs of caffeine could help.0

water lol, it sucks running with food in my stomach. i try to get my exercise in no later than 1 hour after waking up0

If I go on a run I have grits and coffee. If it is a weight room day, I don't eat anything. Different needs per different workouts.0

I usually drink coffee and eat a piece of bread with peanut butter... Lol.... when I'm done working out I'll have a protein "shake"0

I normally have a small apple and coffee.
Then I can have a huge breakfast after :drinker:0 -
I find I lose more weight if I work out on an empty stomach. But maybe that's just because I end up eating less in the day, I don't know. I used to say I couldn't work out without some food to work with, but now I've gotten used to the empty stomach and actually prefer it to having all that food sloshing around.0

I usually have my coffee about an hour before I exercise and a babybel right before with water...0

For me it depends on the exercise. If it's a lifting day then I usually have 1/4 cup oat flour + 1 scoop whey protein + two eggs whites (raw). Shake it up in a shaker bottle and go. It's just so I have a little bit of complex carbs for some energy. After the lifting split I have another protein only shake then get a meal in after my system has relaxed a bit.
Cardio only days I usually just have some water to get hydrated before the dreaded machines. I want to burn fat and nothing else while my glycogen stores are low from the overnight rest.0 -
24 oz of water, Peanut Butter Toast, and 1-2 cups of coffee...but I also get up early enough to sit around for half an hour before working out0

I wonder what makes you choose to drink coffee, guys?
I drink water0 -
I like to eat oatmeal with a scoop of all natural peanut butter and a chopped up apple with ground cinnamon every morning its the best boost of sustainable energy out there. Or if you can't cook oatmeal eat just a banana or apple its a great source of energy as well before a workout. but i would go with the oatmeal0

I always have the same thing...scoop of protein powder, handful or two of spinach, enough mango to make it yummy.
I can't not eat, I get light headed, but I can't eat actual food...the shake is perfect for me.0 -

It is a stimulant but mainly, I like the taste. I suppose, the response would be why not?0 -
I start every morning with a glass of fresh lemon juice, water, and i add liquid cayenne (5 drops), lemon sweet drops (5 drops -it's natural stevia), and liquid diuretic (herbs in liquid form - 5 drops). This tastes like lemonade and hydrates my body. This is all I have before working out every morning.0

If you're going to eat anything before your AM working, the ideal choice is fruit + a protein source and it should be at least 30 min before you workout. If you can't or won't do that, just drink coffee or a pre workout and get to it, be sure to eat after.0
