New to running - new to 5K

Need tips! I have recently started the C25K program. Over the last 6 weeks I have had the opportunity to run/walk 3 individual 5K's. My time is pretty slow because I am walking part of the time. 11 - 12 minutes per mile. What is the best way to build my endurance so I can run the entire 5k without walk breaks??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

doing the c25k programme will eliminate your need to walk bits! in a few weeks you'll be running all of it and more. i did it this year and went from counting the seconds til i could stop in week 1. i would count to 60 each interval and feel like dying, then it was 5 minutes?? 5 whole minutes?? i can't do that. but i could! and after that it was '5 more minutes? that's nothing'. enjoy!

welcome to the world of running. I too started with the c25k program and my advice is to follow the program and stick to it. its ok if you need to repeat a couple of the weeks but even better if you can just have faith that you are stronger than you think you are the program is really well designed to take you through. Once you are running reguarly the speed and endurance will just follow. I found once I finished the program I moved onto some of the other programs to get me running further but it didnt really work for me. I have since joined a running club and found a great circle of friends and we keep each other motivated. I have now completed a few half marathons and one full. Next week we are running in a Mud Run to raise funds for charity so I can confidently say that c25k is one of the best things I have ever done for myself.
