Food nutrition info needs a re-work

The food database is completely messed-up because it uses percentages for some of the nutrition info. This 2,000 calorie diet stuff isn't helpful at all. The requirements for certain nutrients is highly variable, starting simply with gender. If the database would just be updated to include standard measurements for the things like Vitamins then the site could automatically determine the percentage based on what it already knows about us. Vitamin A is a good example. You can't properly express vitamin A intake with a percentage as there are 2 primary sources that get calculated differently. It should be stored as Micrograms RE Plant Source, and Micrograms RE Animal Source.
As it is most of the entries are blank or completely wrong as many people have entered IU as percentage, etc. which is completely wrong. It is a mess, we can't rely on what is currently there.
Anyone else out there agree that this should be improved? Or maybe just keep the calories, fat, cholesterol, sugar, and sodium and leave the rest out.
