chocolate vs healthy

I was just wondering and obviously I'm not going to do this,
but say you were eating 1000cals a day, if you ate 1000cals would you lose the same amount of weight if you were eating 1000cals of fruit and veg?
Like I said, I know you cant live like that and I'm not going to, just curious if eating the same amount of calories in chocolate is the same as eating the same amount in something healthy?

Interesting question!!
I think it depends, if you eat pure dark chocolate, I don't think it would be that bad, but milk chocolate or any other chocolate or cookies come with a lot of fat and carbs, unlike veggies and fruits, which are also a big factor in weight loss as well, not just the count of calories.
I actually had a day last Christmas, where I made cookies and I couldnt resist but eat cookies. Lots of them spread out during the day. Didnt eat anything else. And I was under my daily calorie allowance but -20 in fat and -5 in carbs... I definately do not think it is anywhere near healthy, since you do need vitamins and other stuff that chocolate simply doenst provide you with, but it shouldnt hurt your diet THAT bad, if you were in within your calorie goal of that day just eating chocolate.
I actually know a guy who lost a lot of weight being on a chocolate diet taking vitamins and other superficial supplements.... I am not a fan of supplements and I couldnt do that kind of diet either. I love chocolate, but I love a lot of other stuff too haha, so that eventually would turn very plain for me.0 -
For weight-loss, pure and simple, yes. It's calories in vs. calories out. It's ugly but true. Of course, for body composition, fat loss vs. muscle loss, etc it's not quite that simple.
Ultimately for over all health, getting your micro-nutrients and all that good stuff your body needs is important, too. Fiber, potassium, all your vitamins and such. So a diet of nothing but chocolate, while tempting, wouldn't be your best bet.
Do some reading and find a healthy balance of delicious treat food and good sensible produce, lean proteins, dairy, and whole grains.0
