Hello all,

I feel compelled to share my story here with the hope that I might be able to inspire others.

I'm a 32 (almost 33 in December!) year old mother and wife. All my life I've struggled with weight issues, although it hasn't always been too extreme. At my heaviest (right after I had my daughter) I weighed close to 200 lbs.

Nine years and many life events later, I weighed in around 175. No big deal, right? For my height this is the top of my weight range. Last summer I weighed 145. I became obsessed with the idea that I needed to weigh that again. So I joined MFP around August of 2012. I made it my goal to get back down to 145, but upon befriending some very inspirational people here; I decided that I really just wanted to get into the best shape of my life and so my plans changed slightly...

At first, my goal was to lose the weight, but now my goal is simply to be in the best health that I've ever been in. This includes body, mind and spirit. I will reduce my body fat to 20-22%, obliterate the cottage cheese on my thighs and hopefully get rid of the 'baby belly' that I got from my beloved daughter over 9 years ago. I'm challenging my mental programming that makes me want to give up/quit when things get too tough. When it's all said and done, I will love what I see when I look in the mirror. I'm after a whole-body transformation. If in the pursuit of these goals, I happen to get to my target weight, then so be it.

I've also made it my mission to help empower anybody suffering from negative body image to see themselves in a different light. It has long been my belief that what you feel and think on the inside manifests itself on the outside.

Anyway...

Here is what I looked like in August 2012, which is when I started my first cycle of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution:

As of about a week ago and with the support and help of my wonderful husband, I made another huge life decision. I decided to begin the transition into a fully Vegan diet. For the last week I've been completely meat free. By the end of the year, I hope to be fully Vegan. I'm starting cycle 2/phase 2 of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution in one week. Here is what my current progress looks like:

(My apologies for the quality of the progress pix; I really have to have better ones done moving forward)...

While I've still got the thighs of a thoroughbred and I've certainly got much more progress ahead of me; I am enjoying being stronger and fitter than I've ever been in my entire life. I'm starting to love what I see in the mirror again and I'm learning so much about how my body works. While I definitely could stand for some muscle definition in my abdominal area, my stomach hasn't been this flat in about 15 years!

What's more, I've inspired my daughter to begin working out too and that is something that we now share.

It is my hope that I can continue to grow and develop and challenge myself and I am sincerely grateful for the MFP fam that I've bonded with along the way. There are so many inspirational people here that drive me to achieve my best everyday!

Oh and by the way, my ticker says I've lost 18 lbs in all, which is what I weighed at my last weigh-in, but my weight has fluctuated a few pounds and I don't care too much to change it back and forth every time a pound comes and goes. As I've said before, if I hit my target weight, great! But for now I'll just settle for being in the best shape I've ever been in.

Have a great night, all!

To your ongoing health and well-being,
Charlotte

  • So for some reason these pics appear to get cut off when I'm viewing them on my computer and after trying to re-size them to fit the page, I'm still having issues; so I uploaded the progress pix to my profile for anyone who is having the same issues with the picture being cut off.

    My apologies. :blushing:
