Elliptical recommendations?

Hi there MFP World! I have asked Santa to bring me an elliptical machine for Christmas and I have been doing some research on line but to me nothing compares to actual 1st hand accounts from people that use one regularly.
Can anyone give me some pointers on what to look for and if anyone can recommend a brand they like, that would be great as well. Both my husband and I plan to use it and I am particularly interested in a commercial model so I know it will be sturdy.
Thanks in advance for any replies I get

And yes, for those inquiring minds...I have been SUPER good this year so Santa should pony up a machine for me

I have an Octane which has served me great for years. It has an adjustable stride length which is essential if you ask me. Allows you to match your leg length and if find it useful to change it during a long session

sturdy is good, I bought one a few years ago from Sears returned it due to it being wobbly, and the bolts on the foot peddles kept coming lose. Unfortunately once I returned it I had to pay a 20 % restocking fee. So make sure you don't have that type of situation once you buy one if you find you don't like it. Good luck on your search still have not bought another one, would love to see what responses you get...

There are a few elliptical suggestion posts in the group on here. I don't have the space for one, but if I was going to purchase one it would have to have an incline.

My dream machine would be any Sole machine. I like the the Sole E35. Everything I have read has said these are outstanding machines. They had one at ****'s so I tried it out there and loved it. It is very solidly built and stable. It also has a great warranty. Lucky you!

    Any Precor!

I have the one where the arms detach and love it. Bought the floor model so got a discount, but it was really expensive. We've used it for three years now almost daily and it is great!!!! I recommend Precor for the feel of the stride but also durability and stability of the machines.

Price range? Precor are awesome if you have $4-5000+ to spend. Horizon are great around $5-600 (we have an ex-59, and it is more than adequate for our needs).

One that you can change both the resistance and incline.

You can spend about $2,500 for a basic Precor that will last a lifetime. I agree with the previous poster about resistance and incline but I think you have to purchase something you will use.

Great comments from everyone! While looking at them the other day, the salesman told me Sole was the 'commercial' grade elliptical to buy, when I looked up consumer ratings on line I didn't even see their name! So I was skeptical. But I definitely want something that lasts!
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, this info really helps!

We have a schwinn and love it. We ordered it through Amazon about 5yrs ago and its had no problems. Think we paid $700. We did alot of research. Stride length is super important so I would suggest trying out some at multiple sporting goods stores and reading reviews. Would have loved a precor, but the hubby wasn't on board with that years ago.lol.good luck with your search!
