Thinking about asking for a kettlebell or a medicine ball for Christmas...really need to start working on my core. What do you think would be best?

From personal experience I LOVE kettlebells. They are a bit on the expensive side (esp if you need various sizes) but they can work out so much more than your core.0

Bump? Anyone else?0

Why do you want to work out your core? If it is for balance the best thing to buy is a wobble board. They can be really fun and a challenge.
What do you mean by medicine ball? Medicine balls are the smaller heavy balls that are used in a similar way to kettlebells for all over body workouts. Or do you mean a gym ball you can sit on and do various core exercises (sit-up, plank, back extension etc)?
If it is between medicine and Kettlebell, a kettlebell is more diverse. If it is for your core and balance, you are better off with a gym ball or wobble board.0 -
Hmm. Guess I need to do some more research. I have a stability ball. Maybe that's enough? I really want to get rid of some of my belly fat, and I know I need to concentrate more on my core. But I also know I won't do it if it's not fun. Just trying to figure out what to ask Santa for.0

IMHO wobble boards are the most fun. But then I like falling off of stuff in amusing ways.0

I use a medicine ball with handles at the gym and i do quite a few exercises for my core with that and also incorporate the arms and legs as well. I am hoping for one like that for Christmas. I use 8lb one.0

To know whether you are likely to like a kettlebell, fill a 5 litre plastic bottle with water and then go onto You Tube for a kettlebell routine for beginners (loads on there) and do it along with the video. You'll get the idea with the lighter weight (5K) and feel where the core has been exercised the next day.0

Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack is a GREAT core workout.0

Choose C) Sandbag. You can swing it like a kettlebell or medicine ball but you also can change the load as you get stronger or lighten it to work smaller bodyparts.0
