USA prepared meal and quick meal ideas?

Hi there
I've had lots of success with intermittent calorie restrictiondieting (lost 15lbs and now almost under BMI of 25) after watching a TV show about it here in the UK and have been writing an ebook to share my experiences and those of lots of friends who've done the same. But I am based in the UK and the ebook will also be available in the US - I have lots of UK examples but can't make it over to the US to research myself.

I wondered if any lovely Fitness Pal people might suggest good fast meals they've been eating on their diets, or suggest sites I should try? I'm talking about easy meals (maybe the Weight Watchers type) or other brands that might be widely available in Walmart or other stores that taste good and are under 300 calories? Or really easy meals/soups that have filled you up.

I'd be really grateful. Planning to make the ebook available free on amazon so will let you know the day on here!

Thanks very much!

The big 3 brands here in the US of pre-prepared "healthy" meals are Weight Watchers' Smart Ones, Healthy Choice, and Stouffer's Lean Cuisine. You can check out their websites for selections, but be warned they are heavily processed so while they are low calorie they are by no means healthy.

Any lean meat chicken or you could use tuna with lots of green veggies would be great or home. Made chicken and noodle soup, or ppea and ham soup... Find soups really, fill me up.

    Few chicken stock pots.
Poach chicken breasts in it for 20 mins (2 large ones)
Take chicken out and shred. (add lots of pepper to stock)
Add chicken bad in and put in some egn noodles and 3 eggs.

Protein packed meal, not too many carbs, filling and yummy! X

3 servings... 240 cals each approx and 35g protein x
  • Thanks to both of you, that's really useful. Do you have fresh (chiller cabinet) soups in Walmart etc - that's what I've been relying on for filling hot food when I've been unable to make my own and we have quite a lot of brands here in the UK which, though processed, have limited preservatives and short shelf life etc.

Healthy refrigerated soups are available at specialty store like Trader Joe's and Whole foods, but not the regular stores.
I like Kashi Frozen meals and Amy's, both are healthier versions with fewer preservatives. I love the Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers as well. My Favorite in the Steamer is Honey Glazed Turkey and Sweet Potatoes.
  • Thank you, Julicat6. Very useful tips!

Are there sliced bread or roll brands that most people would use/recognise for toasting, sandwiches etc? Here we have Hovis, either white or wholemeal. Or would you buy that from a local bakery?
