start off with good intentions every morning.....

In the morning I usually eat alright. LOVE my cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast and a coffee when I get to work. and sometimes I even do well at lunch (I am a nanny and lunch food is dependent upon what my bosses picked up from the store that week), but by dinner.... it's like an "eat everything you know you shouldn't have and eat it times 2". I don't feel deprived, I mean I LOVE fish and cottage cheese and even getting to where I don't mind salads... but something about my hour long commute home in the dark just gets me!
ok b#tching over lol.
I have been trying to get my eating habits under control before I started working out too much, but should I just start working out and see if that helps? (I have heard your body craves veggies and protein after work outs)

Are you not eating enough to keep you full earlier in the day? Or is it just boredom from the commute? Either increase what you eat the first 2 meals in order to stay more full or do like I do and eat less earlier in the day so you have plenty of calories left at night--I eat at least half of my calories for the day after I get home, sometimes more like 2/3.
Or you could have a snack at the beginning of the commute?
As far as working out, yes, start now, but don't expect to begin craving healthy food. That may be true for some, but it's never been true for me. I'm just hungry--not for any particular thing.0 -
Working out doesn't make me hungry for vegetables either, unfortunately. Sometimes it makes me want a fruit smoothie but I think that's just because I like them, haha. I'm a pretty bad night binge eater and what really helped me was starting to plan out/split up my meals (at least 5 per day) in a way that let me eat every couple of hours. That way at night after I finish dinner I know that I'm going to get to eat again later while still remaining within my calories, which takes the edge off the hunger/mental desire to eat. This meant that I had to start eating healthier because otherwise I couldn't find foods that were low enough in calories, but I think it's actually been worth it because I really enjoy feeling like I get to eat almost constantly and I don't get that insane hunger that makes me want to binge at night.
I've also
-consciously increased my protein intake, to the point where even if I wanted to binge I'm usually too full.
-completely stopped buying stuff from convenience stores, in the metro, etc., because getting out of the habit of it has made it easier for me to pass up snack machines, the candy bars in the metro, etc.0
