Medi-Cal Diet

I have a Brother and sister in law that or on the Medi-Cal diet. This diet drives me nuts as it "has a 95% success rate over 20 years" and untill they started it I had NEVER heard of it. They lost a a combined weight of over 200 pounds in 4 months maybe. The point of it is to eat NOTHING and only drink these silly protein shakes. He has 6 a day and she has 5 a day. They can have all the diet soda they want (soda not being very good for you). Granted, he has lost a LOT of weight, he looks kinda pale and when he was here this weekend he long sleeves on but it looked like his arms may have been really skinny. I have heard several times that the body eats what ever it find for nutrients and it's not above eating muscle especially in times where there is no food to consume. With him losing weight so fast you can see whats left of his belly in his pants legs. Apparently the doctor that has them on this great plan also says you should not exercise to lose weight, you should only exercise to eat more. But, he also tells them to exercise every other day. Keep in mind that they are only consuming 600 cals liquid and and then going for a 5 mile walk. The doctor thinks this is a good idea. They are both educated people and are part of school district. How can they believe this is good for them? At this point the do not intend to eat anything solid until at least Easter of next year. If they gain 5 pounds back after reaching the goal weight they have to return to not eating anything at all again. How can I put this with out the mods getting mad at me and deleting my post.......I'm not very happy with that "doctor" at all and am wondering if he should even be considered a doctor.

Her doctor tells her this is the way to go and she is one of those people that does not question what people with a lot of money and a degree say. I am glad they decided to lose weight, I just wish they would not do it with a 9+ month starvation diet!0
